Zero Overproduction

The footwear industry produces billions of shoes annually, with a staggering percentage ending up in landfills or incinerators simply because they never sold. This is the tragic cost of minimum order quantities (MOQs) and predictive retail.

Because Koobz operates exclusively on a make-to-order basis, we only manufacture a shoe when a consumer has already purchased it. There is zero excess inventory and zero wasted resources.

Built for Regulatory Compliance

As Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations like California's SB 707 become law, the footwear industry faces a massive challenge. Traditional sneakers, built with 60+ individual parts glued together, are mechanically impossible to recycle profitably.

Koobz offers a proactive solution through mono-material architecture. By manufacturing the entire shoe from foamed TPU, we strip away the costly teardown processes that cause traditional take-back programs to fail.

When a Koobz manufactured shoe reaches its end of life, the yield is premium TPU rather than mixed-waste sludge. We provide the physical architecture that turns regulatory compliance and reverse logistics from a sunk cost into a recoverable asset.

SB 707 & Compliance FAQ

Who qualifies as the "producer" liable for SB 707 compliance?

Under CA Public Resources Code § 42984.3(s), the liable producer is the brand owner or trademark licensee. If a creator sells shoes under their own brand name, they are legally the producer. Koobz acts as the contract manufacturer (Factory805) and provides full material compliance datasets to simplify filings.

Is there a small business exemption for SB 707?

Yes. Brand owners with an annual aggregate global turnover of less than $1,000,000 are completely exempt from registering with Landbell USA or paying fees, making Koobz the ideal low-risk platform for emerging brands.

What are eco-modulated fees under Landbell USA?

Landbell USA (the designated PRO) modulates fees based on material recyclability. Complex, multi-material footwear fused with toxic glues is heavily penalized. Koobz's glue-free, Recycling-Ready Mono-Material TPU qualifies for the lowest fee bracket.

EPR Compliance Shield (California SB 707): Under California's Responsible Textile Recovery Act of 2024, apparel and footwear brands selling in California must register with the Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO), Landbell USA, by July 1, 2026. Non-exempt brands face fines up to $50,000 per day. Koobz acts as a compliance shield for creators through zero-inventory print-on-demand (no deadstock) and a Recycling-Ready Mono-Material TPU architecture that qualifies for the lowest eco-modulated fee brackets.
